Women against poverty (WAP) is a non-government organization (charity organization) in Tanzania, established by Ms.Mary Gemela & Cresensia Shirima and become operational operational in 2012.It was established to improve social – economic conditions of girls and women who live in vulnerable condition,
Since its establishment in 2012 WAP has drawn its support from very few individuals but has manage to serve many girls and women in various ways.
The organization is becoming more and more effective and potential in its growth targeting girls and women who desperately need support.
The reason that WAP necessitated for the establishment of WAP was after seeing young girls in primary and secondary school fail to continue with their studies due to poverty of the family and death of their parents which putting them at risk economically, socially andlosing hope of building better future.

VISSION

WAP aspires to become leading charitable organization in Tanzania the facilitation of women and girls who live in difficult condition by supporting women through small scale financial capital and education of entrepreneurship and supporting girls through education materials, school fees and life skills.

MISSION

To provide adequate, efficient, sustainable and timely support to women who live in difficult conditions through education, small scale financial capitals and entrepreneurship training programs to improve their living standards.

OBJECTIVES

Poverty eradication & people’s empowerment Objectives

i. To promote the development of local communities, with special attention to girls’ and women’s welfare and education.

ii. To provide the means to the development of private and group entrepreneurship and local production among women, in order to achieve better economic, social and cultural conditions for low income women.

iii. To provide opportunities for women to make positive contributions education, gender equity and social welfare.

iv. To support widows and young women affected by HIV/AIDS by providing education, food staff and medication.
